Julie’s Pea Soup Fry 2 pieces of bacon, remove & leave grease in pan. Add to this.. 1 onion chopped 3 carrots chopped 2 stalks celery chopped 1 pack mushrooms 1..2 Tsp chopped garlic Fry all this ‘till onions are soft. Add 1 bag split peas to this mixture and fry everything together for a couple minutes. Add one box broth, stir around, bring to boil lower heat and let it simmer for a couple hours. Keep stirring snd checking. You are done when you can no longer identify peas and the liquid becomes smooth. Add water as necessary to keep the peas covered. Near the end of the simmering process, chop up the cooked bacon and a couple Andouille sausages. Add these to the mixture. Salt to taste.
